I was in the 298th Army Band from 1977-79 and then again 1985 thru 1989. And once more for 30 days in 1994 for the closing. You have several pictures of me in the band. I performed for President Carter, Reagen, and Clinton while in Berlin. |

Dear Reinhard and family, I just finished viewing your wonderful layout of the 50th German-American Volksfest for 2010 in the update section of your website. I would encourage anyone reading these comments to take a few minutes and view the fantastic photos taken from the Riesenrad some 180 feet in the air with Reinhard’s granddaughter Jami at the helm giving her grandfather directions where to aim the camera. Great photos! Thanks for the photo of the former Clay Compound that served as my place of duty back in the days. Your photos brought back some great memories. I see that U.S. Ambassador Murphy and a few other dignitaries made an appearance as well. Perhaps, the powers to be will see to it that the Volksfest continues or let’s hope. This is such a super addition to your website Reinhard and you did a great job highlighting the festivities. Thanks for sharing this special event with all of us old former Berlin veterans. Those of us across the big pond thank you for all that you do my friend. You and your dear family are very special to those of us who call your beautiful city home. Thanks for the memories! You’re the best! |

Well Reinhard, all Sue and I can say is that you and Angela certainly outdid yourselves to welcome us into your home and your hearts. What a wonderful visit!! Thank you for the visits to McNair, Andrews, ClayAllee Hqs, the Allied Museum, the 279th St. Hospital, our old quarters on Am Hegewinkel and even the German-American Volksfest. You have rekindled the old memories and the memories of our visit will last for the rest of our lives. It is a shame to see the places like McNair and Andrews and the ClayAllee Hqs slowly going to waste. What a shame. However, we did have a super visit. Capt. Phil Metzler, AGC, Hq. BB , Jan. 1960-March 1963 |

As a veteran of almost 8 years in the Berlin Brigade, I am delighted to have found this wonderful website. All my memories swirl around me as I scroll through it. Thanks for all the loving that you have obviously put into this. You have reminded this old soldier of the best times in his career, and I am very proud to have played my small part in securing our lovely city so that you can raise your beautiful family. God bless you and keep you safe. |

Dear Reinhard, Just been trying to catch up on the updates of the last few weeks. Finally can sit in this chair again. I see the party is on again---know you and family are enjoying it. Glad to see Jami is back now to go with you. I know your two visitors had a wonderful time with you and the rest of your beautiful family. You just treat everyone so great and welcome them into your home with open arms. Edwina and I will never forget you for that. We are still planning trip next year. Keep up the fine work my Brother. This is a wonderful web-site you have created, and I still enjoy it each time I turn this monster on. We love you my friend---hold your head high. David |
