Invitation by the U.S. Embassy |
Invitation from the American Ambassador
to the 4th of July party 2011
Its many years ago when the legendary Berlin Brigade has departed Berlin.
Since 1994, I had not more the opportunity to join this great American holiday together with Americans like
I loved to do it all the years before. Unexpected for me this has changed now. This year, the American
Ambassador Mr. Philip Murphy, has invited me and my wife Angela to join with him, his family and his guests
the 235
th Independence Anniversary of the USA.
The Berlin weather was not so nice to us, we had about 70F only and it was rainy all day long. But all this
could not push away the fun, the American flair, and the American spirit!
Everybody was happy that just a few rain drops came down from the gray sky, we had luck, so to speak.
7.30pm the party began. It took place on the American Academy lawn, in the rear of the building which was
once known as the Wannsee REC center. A nice stage was framed by various open 'food tents'. There was
everything in best quality available what you know and usually like to get.
On stage played the US Air Force Band: Touch 'n Go. It covered the complete spectrum of American popular
music. It included the best of rock, country and pop songs.
On stage, Ambassador Mr. Murphy welcomed everybody again. After that, was 'Presentation of the Colors',
celebrated by young Marines. Both sides of the flag carrier walked Marines with M14 rifles.
After singing of both National Anthems, the party soon found its highlight, an amazing fireworks display
on the water (Wannsee), opposite of the party area.

Congratulations Reinhard. I just wish that there wasn't so much snow and ice so you could have been on
top of the Brandenberg Gate. You deserve those honors. As always you have some great pictures of Berlin
in Winter. I'm sorry we couldn't get together back in August 2010. I hope that both of us are still alive
and kicking in the coming years so I can meet with you and your wonderful family again. I wish you and
your family a Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy New Year.

Reinhard; Greetings, salutations and best 'Birthday' wishes from the rain drenched, windy Central Coast
of California. May there be many, many more birthdays ahead of you, always blessed with good health and
the love of your great family. I also wish and pray that your lovely spouse Angela is making good progress
in her recovery from that nasty mishap. Further, congratulations to you for the recent recognition by
Ambassador Murphy and DAT Col. Brown. I am truly glad, that both presented a gallant, well deserved tribute,
by hosting you at Berlin's new Embassy. Additionally, many thanks to you and your 'Elves' for the all the
December postings to the site. Again, all the best from our clan. Be safe.....Bob K., ein alter Berliner.

Hello Reinhard My Dear Friend: It has been almost one year when I sent my last e-mail to you, I have missed
you and all the gang. It was a sad day when they told me that I could no longer live by my self due to my
diabetes. My Doctor did not want be living alone. I went to live with my daughter for a while and did not
like that I had to depend on someone for everything that I needed. I felt better going into the soldier's
home. I am back in my own home for a week during the Christmas holiday. I have a caregiver that will live
with me during my stay here. I am so excited being here, and very excited while I am sending this e-mail to
you. I am trying to make some arrangements for a caregiver to live with me always so I can stay in my home
for ever. It is very costly to have a caregiver. If I can work it out with the state of Massachusetts,
maybe I can stay here. I cannot work out in my shop making bird house's any more, I sure miss that hobby.
For the last two days I have been looking at your web site Berlin Brigade, I have a lot to catch up on,
- WOW. Your Birthday is coming up in three days, so I will say Happy Birthday now so I don't forget.
Reinhard, Congratulations my dear friend on your visit to the American Embassy. What a great tribute and
honor they given to you. I felt so proud of you by just reading all the comments that many have sent to you.
Not many Americans can say that they have been in the American Embassy in Berlin / Germany. Good for You
Reinhard, for a well deserved honor for all the hard work and time you give to this beautiful Web site. I
have read that Angela broke her arm, I did not like to read that, how is Angela doing now? PLEASE say hello
to her for me, and tell her I am sending many good wishes that she is feeling much better. And tell the
rest of the gang, Andrea, Nicole, Mike, Jami....I miss them all. WOW, I have been enjoying myself reading
all the updates you have done, and all the nice Guest Book entries that everyone had sent, just like old
times. I will say good-bye for now my dear dear friend! PLEASE tell Angela, Andrea, Nicole, Mike, Jami, that
I wish them all to have a very - very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011 , --Your Friend Bob Casey--

The first thing I did this morning after breakfast was look at our website and was just thrilled to see the
wonderful surprise given to you and the warm welcome given by Col. Brown and Ambassador Mr. Murphy. I can't
think of anyone who has given more to the memory of the troops that served in Berlin then you. As an old
soldier who spent 3 years in Berlin and met you and your family I can only say that you have done more for
German-American friendship then all the diplomats. On another I hope Angela is doing well and is at least
comfortable. Best wishes for your Birthday. Sol

Hi Reinhard: Congratulations on the work you have done , to visit our Embassy is great for our friendship.
The American soldiers who served in Berlin, should always know of the friendship over the years, that you
and your great family has extended to the visitors. You are a true Berliner and God Bless you on your great
work. Glad to see RBB has honored you. They sure picked the right person and it couldn't happen at a better
time, with your Birthday coming. Nancy and I are just so thankful that we met you and that great family of
yours. Berlin looks as though it has a lot of snow, I bet your yard is snow covered. That sure shows the so
called big shots a thing or two about friendship. We hope Jami is well and probably counting the days for
Christmas. Holiday Wishes to you and your family and you will enjoy your Birthday. Charles and Nancy

Congratulations my friend. The tour of the American Embassy is another example of the recognition that you
so richly deserve for your dedication to the preservation of the memories of the Berlin Brigade. You not
only provide for the world the history of the great Berlin Brigade, you also provide a place for we who
served in the great city, a wonderful 'Garden of Memories'. A place we can visit time after time to
remember our youth and all of the sights of the great city. The U. S. Embassy, Ambassador Murphy, Col. Brown
and RBB TV are to be commended for making this Honor possible for you. I thank them for that. This was just
a small part of the accolades that you truly deserve my friend. I am so very happy for you. big brother,Gene

Hey Reinhard, what an HONOR you have been given. I think you deserved the tour of the Embassy. You have
worked so hard for the continuing German-American friendship. After seeing this tour you had, I have again
written the Embassy to enlist their help. I just want you to know that I am working hard to try to get your
BD present to you. Congratulations for the tour you got -- I know you are one proud man. Thank you for
being a friend of the American troops. You are one special kind of friend to me. Your Friend always, David

Wonderful! Wonderful! Congratulations!
Nobody reserved the honors more than you did.
I am so happy for you, keep up the good work !
Although I have been a U.S. citizen since 1956, I will never forget my beloved Berlin.
Your great photos almost made me homesick.
Frohe Weihnacht - Merry Christmas!

Fantastic, Reinhard!!! -- and Congratulations !
You deserved every moment of this occasion! This was the moment you were waiting for, for all your work
and efforts to maintain good German-American relations from the very beginning! You can consider an
Ambassador yourself --- in your own way-- and you have done a great job for all of us and the U.S.A.
I love the photos of Berlin and the Ambassador with you. Regardless of the few downsides---which is normal
human nature. So, I wish all of you there an additional "Joyful Christmas" and a soon arrival of a warm
Springtime. -Fred Giers-

Dear Reinhard, I was informed of your recent "surprise" at the American Embassy via the "Wall Watchers"
website. Congratulations!! At this time, please allow me as well to thank you for your contributions back
in "the old days" to our common causes of resistance to Bolshevism and the freedom of Germany, and in the
support you showed for American soldiers far from home. Also, of course I must wish you and your family
a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hopefully I will have a chance to make your acquaintance in
person on one of my trips through Germany when I have leave from my job in the Middle East. I regret that
I did not have enough time to do such an occasion justice when I first contacted you some time back. -Kent-

Hello Reinhard and family! Congratulations on being invited to the American Embassy my friend! What an
honor that is! You deserve it for all the hard work you have done to keep the Berlin Brigade 'alive' all
these years. Thank you! I still think of how proud I was to be a guest in your home when I came back to
visit Berlin after many years. It was a great honor to meet you and have you autograph both of your books.
When you have a chance, check out the WallWatchers site, there's a little 'surprise' there for you also!
Merry Christmas to you, Angela, Andrea and your family my friend.
Happy Birthday Reinhard and many many more. Warm greetings from New York, -Earl-

Hello Reinhard, this was the highlight of my year. Too see your smiling face and knowing what this visit
meant to you left me absolutely speechless and filled with joy unspeakable. No one deserved the recognition
as much as you did for all that you have accomplished and the joy and happiness your website work has
brought to so many of us who once served in your beautiful city. Jami will have this memory and honor
for a lifetime to share with her school friends and her own family one-day. The rewrite up in the newspaper
was very good. Imagine all the people who have read about your experience. Wow! Good things do happen to
good people. -Rick-

Hi Reinhard,
many congratulations on being honored by the trip to the U.S. Embassy, you certainly deserved it for all
your hard work maintaining the good memories and relations between all us Berlin Veterans. Also well done
for your British section, a good comprehensive feature. I must say it brought back good memories. Sorry to
see Angela had taken a fall and broken her arm in the snow - easy to do. Also nice to see all the family
enjoying the Grunewald in the snow, as I was scrolling down a thought occurred to me - probably won't see
any naked ladies this time - lo and behold three frames down and there she was!! How I laughed! Lovely
photos of Jami's Christmas - she's growing apace that one, you all must be proud. Once again well done on
your interesting and informative site.
Happy 2011 to all in Berlin. - John G.Nasmith -

email letter to the U.S. Embassy Berlin Comments: The Honorable Philip D.Murphy
Dear Ambassador Murphy:
It was a thrill to me to receive an E-mail message from my friend, Mr. Reinhard von Bronewski, with you
and him shaking hands, and to extend a good will gesture for Reinhard's untiring efforts to maintain
"The good memories alive"--- since his teaming with the U.S. Military Police in Berlin.
Reinhard has carried the torch also for me in keeping the U.S. - German Connection of friendly relations
(at least in the Berlin Sector) --- and to my observation from his excellent creation of his website, he
has done an outstanding job in keeping the fires of happy memories burning. It is my heartfelt wish to
express my own experiences with the U.S. Occupational Troops in 1945--1959---some day--- although, I cannot
claim the genius that Reinhard has so wonderfully demonstrated. Reinhard deserves all the credit he has
been given, not to forget the help he received from his loving family and surrounding pals of the Berlin
Media. It gives me much pleasure to have this opportunity to share my appreciation for Reinhard's Big
Moment with you. A very happy and joyful Neues Jahr fuer Allem in Ihrem Bereich. - Fred W. Giers -
