Another kind of Love Story

An popular French puppets player crew has made Berlin for 3 days to an huge stage. October 1-3, regarding the 19th anniversary of reunited Berlin, on Oct 3, 1990, two giant puppets have played an heart warming love story, downtown, in mids of more than 1,5 millions of happy spectators. Normal city traffic broke down, everybody wanted to see it.
Two giants, the male one, about 40 feet tall, played the uncle, the smaller female puppet, about 24 feet tall, his niece. Both giants searched the streets downtown to find each other to come finally together again, - like once West- & East- Berlin in 1990. The male giant came out of the Spree river before he has started his long search.
More than 100 busy puppets players, dressed in red uniforms, made these unusual actions possible. All of them did a fine but stressful job! Of course, finally there was an Happy End, right in front of the Brandenburger Tor! After that spectacle, both giants, happy reunited, traveled home by boat on the Spree river. Many THANKS to the creator of that special event!

On November 9 , 2009, was the 20th anniversary of the end of the infamous Wall. Many thousands Berliners & tourists attended to a special ceremony next to the 'Brandenburg Gate' & its vicinity. Countless unknown nameless artists have created 1000 large 'bricks' to symbolize former Wall elements. Each of such bricks (no concrete) had another nice design. They were lined up like DOMINO bricks from the Spree river along the Brandenburg Gate all the way down to Potsdamer Platz. In the evening the first bricks got touched & one after the other fell down. What a great Domino effect! The only bad fact of that day was the nasty weather. (rain & temps below 40F)
